3 Door Wardrobes

With the available of modern and technology backed hardware wardrobe manufactures can today role out large larger sized wardrobes that not only have large sizes carcasses but also wide spanned doors. 3 door wardrobe combinations can be manufactured in a number of ways.  One method is to have swing doors and the other is to have sliding doors. Each of these builds have their own pros and cons from a usability perspective. From a production perspective either method is equally durable and study.

3 Door Hinged Wardrobe

3 door hinged wardrobe are the most conventional form wardrobe design. The carcass requirements must have at least 4.5 feet in width. The wardrobe is needs to be partitioned at 3.00 feet to accommodate the first two doors and the third door at 4.5 feet. In this configuration there will be two double doors and third would be a single door. The single door is usually where shelve space is allocated from the top to the bottom. Alternatively, pullout fittings and accessories can also be added to it instead of shelves. A single door or even a double drawer, placed one over the other can be added here instead of shelves. These drawers are usually at a  height of 4.00 feet and below. The double doors adjacent to it is when the clothes rod for hanger space is provisioned for.  For the gentlemen section the height left is approximately 4.00 feet allowing for coat sizes garments to easily fit. For the ladies this height can extend to 5.00 feet for to accommodate longer garments.  Below which there can be a set of drawers added and below it open shelves. Shelves need to be placed at gaps of 18.00 inches.

3 Door Swing Wardrobe

A popular choice of many consumers, 3 door swing wardrobe are modern designs that have seen plenty of success in the recent past. 3 door sliding wardrobes are considered for a room when the available space large. When the space available is sufficiently wide, sliding doors replace the need to have many hinged doors that would be the design look bulky and also cramped. Remember that hinged door wardrobes need to have vertical partitions to enable hinges to be mounted therefore the adding these partitions is a must in the design plan. With the use of swing doors these vertical partitions are eliminated and the wardrobe would have wider span of carcass that would require only end partitions. Vertical partitions can also be added at will, as this configuration can be fully customized to place vertical partitions at multiple sections. Modern hardware sliding systems are available to support the weight of broad width doors and thus manufactures can comfortably expand the size of each door depending on the weight capacity of the sliding systems chosen.

Space Requirements

Before deciding on choosing a 3 door wardrobe it is first important to properly identify the space available for it. The minimum width required for a hinged door installation is at least 4.50’ to 5.00’ feet in width. In this configuration for a hinged door wardrobe, each door can be allocated a 1.5’ or 18 inches swing area.  For the sliding door configuration the minimum width required is 6.5 feet on wards for a 3 door sliding system to work efficiently. The depth required is the standard 18 inches onwards and upto a maximum of 24.00”.

Height & Width of the Closet

Although the height of the 3 door wardrobe can be customized as per the requirements of the space, a typical height is 6.5’ to 7.0’. Sliding door wardrobes need to ideally not extended beyond 6.5’ as the weight and width of the doors need to be within the specified limits of sliding door systems.  For the width,  sliding door wardrobes range anywhere from 3  to 4.5 feet for a single door. Hence for a 3 door sliding wardrobe a minimum area would be six feet.
